Ceramics begin in the earth and take shape in plaster.
Inside the Alice factory, matter undergoes a slow transformation. Plaster moulds absorb the moisture of liquid clay and guide the emergence of form. Layer by layer the volume builds itself from within. Clay settles along the inner walls of the mould, thickens and solidifies. When the plaster opens, the pieces emerge pale, matte and still fragile. Solid cylinders, soft surfaces, essential geometries. Each object carries traces of the process: thin edges, slight variations, marks left by the material as it formed within the mould.
Then comes fire.
Inside the kiln the earth changes state. Matter becomes compact, the surface tightens, colour settles. What was once earth becomes ceramic. Between plaster, water and heat, form appears slowly. Here matter becomes object.
